If you have a fixed run for your poultry, and they are scratching at bare earth or splashing about in the mud, sprinkle a good layer of hardwood woodchip in their run and you will have dry, clean, happy hens.

This 20-bag option would be delivered by pallet transport and there are also options for buying 10 bags and 40 bag pallet quantities as well as just single bags. NOTE: pallet deliveries can take up to 7 days during busy periods.
Each Handy Bag will cover approx 1 sq m/10 sq ft. This 20 bag option will cover approx. 200 sq ft.

Woodchip is often damp when bagged so the weight of the bag will vary (sometimes by up to 5kg), however, the bags are 50 litre bags so the volume in the bags is always the same no matter how wet.
If ordering large quantities of woodchip to store for later use (very economical if you have the space to store them), then we do advise making sure there are air holes in the stored bags to allow moisture to escape and prevent sweating inside the plastic bags, which can produce (harmless) moulds.
Flyte so Fancy Woodchips have a nominal 10-40mm particle size and conforms to British standard BS:EN1177:2008. They do not contain recycled wood waste or bark mulch.
Hardwood Woodchips are produced from sustainably harvested British forests. FSC Certificate No CU-COC-806457. The product shall have been tested in accordance with the requirements of BS4790:1987 for fire resistance and be classified as having low potential to burn.
These Handy Bags weigh approx 15-20kg, depending on the moisture content of woodchips at the time of bagging i.e. the seasonal variations. By volume approx. 50 Litres.
Estimate one sack will cover approx 10 sq ft with a 2-3in depth (To clarify: 10 sq feet is an area of 10ft by 1ft or 1metre by 1metre).To calculate your run area:- length times width divided by 10 equals the number of bags you need. So a 9ft x 9ft run would need 8 bags (9 x 9 = 81, divide by 10 = 8).
Delivery of Woodchip is via Palletline Transport company and, due to weight, the carriage starts at £59 e.g. to postcodes in mainland England. For other areas just add to basket, select destination postcode and delivery charge will be shown.

Please allow up to 7 working days for delivery during busy times. Pallet delivery does require access for a small lorry with a rear tail-lift. See Delivery Information.
The driver will place the pallet in a convenient place on your property for you to unpack as you wish (the driver will not unpack the pallet for you or remove it). A signature on delivery is preferable but if you are happy for the pallet to be left safely please mention this when ordering.
These chips are great, clean, uniform, no spikes or big lumpy bits.
I have just used my Flyte so Fancy wood chips in my pen and i am thrilled with the quality and so are my Silkies, Camilla, Fergie, Kate and Anne. There is no comparison between these and what I thought were a cheaper option so am very happy. Delivery as always, was seamless both in communication and delivery.
I realised that the bare mud inside my hens run was very boring for them. They do roam the garden sometimes. The wood chips are good quality and very fit for purpose. I got 20 bags for a 3m x 6m run and it works well. The hens can scuffle about happily. I was notified about the delivery date and time which was very helpful.

We’ve had some very wet weather in Scotland recently and these hardwood woodchips are excellent. They’ve turned a very muddy hen run which was getting a bit smelly (despite there being a cover on our hen run and our hens being free to roam) into an area that’s pleasant for the hens, who seem to love it and good to walk on. All smelliness has also disappeared. Delivery was exellent and the product is very easy to put down.
