Sleeper & Woodchip Pack for Long Legged Maggie's Dozen Hen House with either a 6ft, 9ft or 12ft long Run.

The packs contain a set of pressure-treated timbers - see Details tab - to build a raised plinth for your Long-Legged Maggie's Dozen Henhouse & Run and bags of hardwood woodchip to create a clean, perfect surface for the hens.

To create a permanent site for your chickens - and to save you from having to move the Run every few weeks - why not consider this package to make a secure (fox-proof), level surface for your House and Run by raising it on a timber plinth and filling the inside surface with hardwood woodchip.

This kind of hardwood woodchip is an excellent, hygienic, surface for the birds - almost self-cleaning when it rains or wash through with a garden hose occasionally - refresh with new woodchip perhaps twice a year, and regularly scatter some sanitising powder over it once a month to keep it smelling fresh and bacteria-free. Much more healthy than bare soil for the birds, and much less smelly too.

The base of the run sits centrally on the sleeper plinth. The sleepers are softwood tanalised - not oak – and will be cut to the lengths required for your plan. They will come with an instruction sheet to aid placement (it is just like putting Lego together really!).

The woodchip can be placed directly onto the ground, we do not recommend a geotextile underlay, mainly for reasons of hygiene as the 'poo' will not wash/drain through it, but also the hens will dig it up.

With a 6ft long Run: Max. external dimensions of the plinth frame are 3020mm long by 1520mm wide. Includes 4 bags of Hardwood Woodchip.

With a 9ft long Run: Max. external dimensions of the plinth frame are 3960mm long by 1520mm wide. Includes 5 bags of Hardwood Woodchip.

With a 12ft long Run: Plinth external is 4900mm x 1520mm. Overall length of this house and run unit is approx. 15ft and the Sleepers make a base with an external length of 16ft and a width of 5ft. Includes 6 bags of Hardwood Woodchip.

The Pack contains a set of pressure treated timbers, 10in x 5in (250mm x 125mm), to build a raised plinth for the Run frame to sit on.

Included are enough bags of hardwood woodchip to create a clean, perfect surface inside the run area.

The Sleepers are cut to the lengths required to suit this layout. The max. length of any single sleeper is 4ft (1220mm), a detailed layout plan is included.

Delivery is via Palletline carrier. If ordered with your housing the sleeper pack will all arrive a tthe same time.
