Flyte Open Fronted Nest Box
Open Fronted Robin & Wren Box, handmade in Dorset by Flyte so Fancy.
Robins, Wrens, Spotted Fly Catchers, Song Thrushes, Pied & Grey Wagtails and Blackbirds prefer a classic open-fronted nest box.
Our design incorporates an overhanging roof to protect against extremes of weather with drainage in the base to allow any moisture to escape.
The roof is held in place with a screw to prevent predators such as squirrels stealing eggs or chicks.
Constructed from untreated, slow-grown, Scandinavian Redwood. The 20mm thick close-grain timber has excellent insulation properties to keep the birds warm in winter and cool in summer.
Each nest box is finished in a nano-tech coating for long term preservation against fungal attack and rot. Perfectly bird-safe. All Flyte Nesting Boxes carry our Flyte so Fancy Quality Stamp.
Available in Natural Green or Chestnut Brown, the colours are unobtrusive and will match most garden decor. All screws are double-plated and hinges are solid brass, so your bird nesting boxes will last you for many years to come.
- Material: 20mm Untreated Swedish Redwood from an FSC Certified supplier
- Colours: Chestnut Brown or Natural Green (animal safe nano-technology coating)
- Fixings: Double-plated screws and solid brass hinges
- Overall dimensions: Width: 15cm; Height: 30cm; Depth: 14cm (front to back)
Siting of your Garden Bird Nest Box: The best height for a nest box is between 1.5m and 5.5m high or the box could be sited higher to prevent garden bird predators, such as cats.
Open fronted nest boxes like these are best sited where there is some cover such as climbing plants and should face anywhere between northeast and southeast to avoid strong sunlight and prevailing winds in the nesting area.
Standard delivery via courier is next working day to most mainland UK destinations for orders placed before 2pm (excl. weekends and bank holidays).
